Crossing borders: Successful heavy transport in a politically sensitive region thanks to strong coordination and international teamwork

More than 15 truckloads were delivered from Berlin to Kosovo for the modernisation of the Kosova B lignite-fired power plant in Obiliq (1×340 MW, commissioned in 1983). The main components were an LP rotor (8.00 × 3.87 × 3.84 m, 61 t) and an HP block (6.12 × 3.80 × 2.90 m, 57 t).
Colossus Logistics GmbH & Co. KG handled the transport of the HP block with an 8x4 semi-trailer truck and a 6-axle semi-low loader. A 2+5 low loader with an 8x4 tractor unit from our BIGMOVE AG partner Bloedorn Spedition was used for the LP rotor.
The route through Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia and Kosovo was challenging due to country-specific regulations, customs formalities and political uncertainties.
The transport was particularly challenging due to complex permits, political uncertainties, tight time windows and a lack of experience in Kosovo. Nevertheless, thanks to precise planning, strong partners, close coordination with the authorities and experienced drivers, Colossus Logistics GmbH was able to complete the delivery on time and successfully.
Colossus Logistics GmbH & Co. KG would like to thank its BIGMOVE partners Bloedorn Spedition, GARANTRANS and OVERSIZE Solutions (Serbian Permits), as well as Dario Dresch for his coordination and international cooperation.
