Hegmann Transit – From horse-drawn carriages to international project logistics

Hegmann Transit – From horse-drawn carriages to international project logistics Founded in Sonsbeck in 1920, the family-owned company Hegmann began with horse-drawn carts transporting coal and animal feed. Over the decades, it developed into a modern logistics company for heavy haulage and project logistics. The fleet grew steadily, as did the size of the company. In the 1980s and 1990s, the third generation took over, further modernised the company and expanded the site on Raiffeisenstraße. From 2000 onwards, the company continued to expand with a branch in Wuppertal, a new administration building, a heavy goods warehouse (2014) and its own heavy goods port – the Niederrhein Heavy Goods Terminal (2018). In 2020, Hegmann Transit GmbH & Co KG celebrated its 100th anniversary. Now it has been 105 years with strong roots and an eye to the future.
Today, the company is run by the fourth generation, employs around 100 people and has 135 vehicle units. At the end of 2025, the next logistics property will be built to expand further business areas as a 4PL service provider.
BIGMOVE AG would like to congratulate the company on its anniversary and looks forward with joy and pride to a successful collaboration and shared future.
